Woman of Distinction Award

Each year the Junior League of Greensboro awards the JLG Sustainer Woman of Distinction Award to a deserving sustainer member who demonstrates tremendous dedication to both the JLG and to the community-at-large. Our goal is to recognize a sustaining member who has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the JLG through decades of continued service and support and used her JLG training and skills to promote voluntarism while making a significant impact on our community.

“I joined the League as an avenue to learn about the many aspects of the Greensboro community and to meet a variety of people. In the process of learning, I was touched by the people who are working to make Greensboro a better community in many ways. Also, I learned and practiced leadership skills and developed wonderful lifetime friendships. I was an active member for 25 years and I plan to be a Sustainer for many, many years.”

Over my 9-year membership, I directly served nonprofits in Greensboro, participated in leadership committees, and formed friendships beyond my usual work circle. The League pushed me out of my comfort zone, allowing me to discover hidden talents. Now, as a Sustainer, I continue to maintain my junior league membership in a supportive role to newly active members such my niece who recently joined.”
